Holiday Marketplace 2010

Holiday Marketplace in Gainesville, GA, began last night with a premier party, and it was spectacular! A great crowd as always - the best part is seeing all the ladies' outfits; at least half of them had on a pair of stylish boots! The food was yummy-licious - crab cakes, spicy shrimp, turkey tenderloin with a cranberry chutney, artichoke dip, and of course, the desserts! Everyone knows about the macaroons - little bites of heaven with chocolate cake surrounding warm, rich coconut! So good . . . . but on to the party! Guests are always in a cheery spirit - people stop by the booth to comment on the quilts, and I even sold a couple of things! But today, the real "shoppers" come out - the women leave their husbands at home, and return with a pretty good idea of how they want to spend their money. Lots and lots of jewelry vendors, some new, some returning. Soaps, home dec, apparel (some really funky jackets and accessories that you will only see at this show, gathered in one place), children's toys, gourmet packaged foods, and we even have a bakery from Cleveland, GA, this year. The above photo is a portion of my booth - Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe - and when I had finally finished the set-up yesterday afternoon, I stepped back and realized that many months of work had gone into making those quilts, and it just made me so proud to be a quilt artist!
If you have some free time today or tomorrow (November 5 & 6), stop by the Gainesville Civic Center and shop the Holiday Marketplace! It's been a favorite of mine even before I lived here!

Oh man, I wish I had known about that marketplace. Darn it. Is there a website or something where I can sign up to be notified of the next one? I just love craft shows and that one sounded wonderful! Your quilts are gorgeous!!! QueenMarcy
