Ghosts of Halloween Past

Such a rumpled trio of pumpkins! One by one this week, they became the sentries at my door, keeping watch with their little votives over the front yard, and warding off evil spirits. But the warm days and bright sunlight took their toll on their once cheery faces, and by Halloween, they looked like a group of geriatric gentlemen who forgot their dentures!

They have two brothers, one with a friendly face and the other with a rather bizaar set of "double eyes" that will take their places before the trick or treaters begin to arrive tonight. I'll let these merry fellows live out their lives on the side of the house until the trash man comes on Wednesday, then off to the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump they will go! And over the next couple of days, I'll share photos of the trick or treaters that are sure to show up tonight - I can't wait! I bought lots of candy (the kind I would love if I were still a kid!), and I always let them take a handful on their own - but just one handful!
