Spring into Summer . . .

Our recent thunderstorms, downpours and sprinkles have resulted in beautifully lush fields, pastures, and lawns in north Georgia. After a winter that seemed to last forever (at least for this Florida native!), cold gave way to warmer temps, then the spring rains brought about new growth and a sense of reawakening.

And with so much going on in our rural county - lots of non-profit fundraisers, school activities, and vacation planning - it's wonderful to be able to relax and appreciate our surroundings. I don't think I'm going to find the time to plant the big garden that I had last year, complete with corn, sunflowers, several varieties of tomatoes, bell peppers, squash, etc., I certainly intend to keep up with flowers that have lots of color! But for now, lots of green, green, green leaves and grasses are good enough for me.
My precious concord grapevine survived the hard winter cold, and has little, bitty grapes - before you know it, they will be plump and deep purple - ready to pluck from the vine and eat - while standing in the back yard. As will the cherry tomatoes and Better Boy tomatoes, too. I planted way too many tomato plants last year, and could not keep up with eating them all!
