Last Saturday, Wild Birds Unlimited, Sprint, and Sherman Williams Paints hosted their Customer Appreciation Day in Dawsonville (GA). These retailers invited the public and their valued customers to join them for free hot dogs and snowcones, face painting, a children's "bouncy" tent, and of course, the Dawson County Humane Society was there with puppies and kittens. Virginia Matteson, a dear friend of mine, is fostering several cats and kittens, and here is just one of the little darlings! All of the children that attendeded wanted to hold the kitties and I'm sure these babies were exhausted by the end of the day! One little puppy - Daffodil - a chow mix, was walked and played with by several families, and at the end of the event, was returned to the Shelter, only to be adopted by someone that had seen sweet Daffodil earlier when she was with us! The power of positive PR - talking with customers and families, telling them about our Shelter and the many events and activities that we have planned for the year - is an invaluable part of our organization, and that's why you'll see the Dawson County Humane Society "out and about", promoting goodwill for the love and care of our animals.
