We are the Caretakers!

Regardless of what spiritual beliefs you hold dear, there's no denying that we, as humans, are here to take care of our environment, and everything in it. That includes taking responsibility for the animals that we encounter along life's journey. I'm not called "the cat rancher" for nothing - I am proud to say that I have eleven cats that I love and care for each and every day. While at Lakewood 400 Antiques in May, one of the vendors had brought in three kittens that were born in his garage. Seems at though two "sister" cats showed up, and sought refuge from the cold, and Pat was kind enough to give them shelter, not knowing that they were both pregnant. Much to his surprise, they gave birth to litters within two weeks of each other and he now has a family of felines! Anyway, one of the three kittens was adopted on Saturday, but the other two remained, and many visitors to the antiques show that May weekend oohed and aahed, but no one was interested in adopting these little dears. I left, too, thinking surely someone would take them home. But I returned on Sunday with my sister-in-law, Lisa, who intended to shop one of the vendors that sells wonderful fabric - SomeArtFabric (wonderful Colleen has a website - www.someartfabric.com. I checked in on the kittens and found out no one was willing to take them. My mantra has always been - if not me, who? Who would take them home and care for them, giving them a loving, safe home? Well, I did. I named them Giselle and Willie, and here is a photo for you (Giselle on the left, Willie on the right).
