Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe - . . . and a new quilt is born!

The Christmas decorations are packed away, I've made another run to the Goodwill, and changed the quilt on my bed to something a little more cheery (a beautifully fluffy ivory chenille, but with an extra layer of small quilts for cold nights), and now I'm piecing one quilt after another. Because it's too cold to stay outdoors for too long, it's easy to focus on new projects and take a second look at older projects.

I had a "jelly roll" of "Flirtatious" fabric sitting on my shelf for over a year now - it's a beautifully bright hearts-and-flowers collection just made for February and Valentine's Day! So, I picked up the jelly roll and pulled a book off the shelf that was written specifically for pre-cut collections such as jelly rolls, and selected a pattern that I liked. The photo above shows four (of the twenty) blocks that are waiting to be sewn together, then sewn again into a nice lap-sized quilt, just in time for Valentine's Day. Don't you love the bright colors and scrappy look that comes from using a great collection of fabric? I sure do! I often work with fabric collections, throwing a couple of pieces from my stash into the mix, just for interest! I love happy, bright quilts that make me smile and look more closely at them. But . . . I can hardly wait to select the variegated King Tut quilting thread to quilt this little jewel - I think I'll choose the pink/chocolate thread or perhaps the ruby red thread . . . so many choices - that's the beauty of using great quilting thread like King Tut from Superior Threads.

Well hello Wendy, I finally took the time to visit your site. I purchased a small quilt from you at the Druid Hills Show last Spring, ( I have the Childrens Books) I really love that little quilt! The colors worked out beautifully in my Edwardian bedroom. Just wanted you to know! Jeri
