Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe - Just a Bit of Bling!
Bling! I have to wonder where that word originated . . . but it's a good descriptive word for anything that a person "adorns" themselves with . . . like jewlery! The above "bling" was bought from two great gals - Patricia and Chris - of Three Birds Studio and Gallery. They have a wonderful booth at Lakewood 400 Antiques each month, and many women flock (no pun intended!) to see their beautiful creations. They always have a little seasonal theme going on . . . in December, they showcased vintage Santa charms, some with red glass beads, and this month, they have great Valentine's charms - oodles of hearts and cupids. Their merchandising is great - you start with a chain - either burnished or silver - then add on whatever charms tickle your fancy. As you can see from above, I selected my initials to start my collection, and then next month, will add another charm that I've asked them to customize just for me - it's a small Steinlen image of a woman and a little girl enjoying a chocolate drink, and was originally an advertisement for the beverage - the text is in French, and the colors are the signature Steinlen red, black and gold. I've been saving that little piece for a few years, not knowing what I would do with it. When Patricia and Chris began selling their little charms, I knew I had found the perfect venue for my precious little scrap - I can't wait to see it!
