It's Kitten Season . . .

The five little sweeties above were born about five weeks ago, and today was their first visit to Doc Mills' office for a wellness checkup, first round of shots, and to get Doc's blessing, of course. Their mother, Ceci, went along, too, and received her rabies and adult distemper shot. Ceci came to me in mid-March, pregnant, from the Dawson County Humane Society, and lived with me and my other furry friends until she gave birth to these babies. Baxter, a bottle-fed kitten from one of last year's litters, is now a big teenage cat, and is very affectionate and sweet. He sat with Ceci that entire time she was giving birth, and even helped her clean up the kittens. Baxter has been the best "cat daddy" you could ask for, always watching over the kittens, sitting with them when they sleep, and generally, being a good companion to Ceci.

From left to right, the kittens are Rupert (orange male), Lucy (silver female), Quincy (white male), Posey (tabby female), and Lily (tabby female). Four or five weeks from now, they will be spayed/neutered, and available for adoption at Dawson County Humane Society. And I will ask for another litter of kittens to foster 'cause, you know, it's kitten season, and that's just what I do!
