Try something new . . .

Yes, I know this little snowman is holding a Christmas tree and wreath, but look at that wonderful smile on his face! And all that snow . . . . here in north Georgia, we're supposed to get snow again this week . . . and as long as it doesn't mess up my plans for Saturday, who cares? Because my one and only New Year's resolution was to try something new every month . . . and this month, I'm going to Tiger, GA, for a wine/cheese/soup/bread lunch. Every Saturday during the month of January, they are hosting this special event from 12Noon to 3:00 p.m., and it sounds like fun! There will be a musician playing the cello, and we'll be seated in the area where they keep the wine caskets - how cool is that! I love cheese . . . . it's one of my favorite things to splurge on . . . I remember when my mom and I travelled to the Seattle/Vancouver/Portland area in 2006 for a short vacation, we had dinner in Seattle at a small restaurant and ordered a cheese sampler platter, with about six different cheeses, along with a glass of wine. We enjoyed tasting the different cheeses - some more than others. I've always been intrigued by the many types of milk they use to make cheese - cow, goat, sheep - and with some cheeses, they even combine the different milks. In New York, there's a business that hosts monthly "cheese classes", and they meet to discuss everything about cheese - how it's made, where it's from, which foods to eat with certain cheeses. Maybe I can find a similar group here in the Atlanta area, and make that my "try something new" adventure for February . . . .
