Crossroads @ Crabapple 2010

Crossroads @ Crabapple Arts & Antiques Festival was again a wonderful day, with perfect weather! I sold equal numbers of Halloween and other seasonal quilts, had several "repeat" customers from last year and even the year before in 2008, and welcomed the addition of many new vendors to the show. Everything went very smoothly - set-up and breakdown were so easy, my location was ideal, and I was able to sell my wares to appreciative customers who will enjoy them for years to come.

Two teenage boys, who bake and sell their dog biscuits called "Woof 'Em Down" dog biscuits, were at the Festival again this year, sold out their biscuits to dog owners that brought their canine friends to the Festival. Every shape, color and size of dog was in attendance yesterday - a good looking bulldog named Tank, a little rescue sweetheart named Cissy, golden retrievers, dachsunds, a pair of German shepherds that enjoyed the attention of everyone, and even a brother-sister of miniature (oh-so-tiny) Yorkies in a baby carriage - good idea as they were so small and the crowd was BIG!

My special purchase was a wonderfully imaginative metallic October calendar designed and crafted by Kris Hurst, a very talented collage artist who sells her wares at festivals like Crabapple, and also at Lakewood 400 Antiques every month . . . here is a photo to enjoy . . . each "day" is a magnet that can be removed as the October days click by . . . . I'm going to hang my calendar in the living room where I can enjoy it all-year-round - it's so unique and interesting! I hope that Kris will do a whole series of each month, using her favorite techniques and special "funky style" of collage - I just love this, and it makes me smile!

Ah-ha! Now for my 4th comment today to you, I remember your quilts at the Crabapple event now! They are GORGEOUS! I may have to purchase one next year. I do not decorate for Halloween, but maybe one of the Christmas quilts would be good!!!
