Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe - Is It Too Early for Christmas Cats?

Now that Halloween is behind us, and my vendor shows are over for the year, I find myself in the mood for Christmas. I know, I know . . . Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, and as much as I love Thanksgiving (all that food, family, and football), I like the warm, cozy feeling of Christmas. I'm kinda over the gift giving concept, but just love the imaginative, cheery decorations that seem to be everywhere for this holiday. Although I haven't had a Christmas tree in several years - Christmas trees and cats just don't mix, let me tell you - I still manage to decorate somewhat. I affix Christmas quilts to the walls in the living and dining rooms, and hang fabric strip garland with dangling, cherished ornaments. The scent of bayberry and pine candles fills the air, and I play my very favorite Christmas music - Bing Crosby's White Christmas, Johnny Mathis, and Barbara Streisand. Every year, I intend to buy more Christmas music, and this year, I have promised myself to do just that!

Even though it's not quite yet the Christmas season, start thinking about living this season more simply - decorate your home for "you", select gifts that have a sense of purpose (like a donation to someone's favorite charity), and give of yourself - volunteer at a food bank, with a church group, with Meals on Wheels, or at a senior center or nursing home. After all, how much stuff do you really need? Except for fabric, of course!
