Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe - 3 Weeks and Counting!

Moving to Georgia three years ago, I knew I wanted to participate in local north Georgia arts and crafts shows as a vendor selling my quilts. I've always loved attending these shows - mingling with the crowd, talking to the vendors and learning about their craft. When I lived in southern California, Piecemakers - a well-known quilt shop in Costa Mesa, CA - held outdoor arts and crafts festivals two or three times a year, and attending those shows was so wonderful!

Fall, of course, is the very best season for outdoor arts and crafts festivals. All the wonderful colors of autumn - orange, scarlet, gold, green - are seen in the landscapes of north Georgia, and make it a delight to be outdoors, even if it rains! Which was the case yesterday at my second show of the season - Oktoberfest at Big Canoe. The forecast was for thunderstorms throughout the day, and I had actually called the organizers of the event the day before and cancelled my participation, fearing that my quilts would be soaked under such conditions. But when I woke up yesterday morning and checked the forecast, it didn't look as bad as they said it would, so I put on my big girl pants and traveled northeast to Big Canoe - and I'm so glad I did. They changed the location of the event within the Big Canoe property to an area that was easier to maneuver, and all of the vendors seemed to love the new site.

I had sold many of my Halloween quilts the weekened before at Crabapple, and I was at a loss as to how to fill in the space vacated by those quilts. I really like to bring my Fall and Halloween quilts to Crabapple and Big Canoe since it's early in the season, but I had to bring Christmas quilts, quilts that I was actually saving until Holiday Marketplace in Gainesville. And I am so glad that I did! I sold all six Christmas quilts - gone! Wow! People were shopping early for loved ones and they really embraced those Laurel Burch wallhangings! Who knew? Anyway, now I have to get really busy and make lots more quilts 'cause I certainly can't take the remaining Halloween quilts to Holiday Marketplace - I'm going to be very busy for the next month!
