Summer's Bounty . . .
It's hard to believe that just a few months ago, I planted several groups of sunflower seeds along the side of my house. They have grown into huge plants with flowers the size of dinner plates, and are just breathtaking! Every other afternoon when I get home from work, I quickly change clothes, and go outside to water "my crops". In the four days that I traveled to Florida last weekend, the tomatoes had just outdone themselves - two big bowls of cherry and Celebrity tomatoes were just right for picking when I got home! A couple of weeks ago, I was at the back of the house and came around the corner, water hose in hand, to give the plants a good drink of water, and was I surprised to find a small group of neighbors "up close and personal" with my sunflowers - they just couldn't believe how big they had grown! Cars drive by slowly, their passengers taking in the sunny yellow beauty, and I have to admit, it just makes you smile to see the sunflowers so big and healthy, swaying in the breeze with bumblebees and honeybees buzzing around . . . I love my garden!
