Four Seasons Quilt Shoppe: If it's August, it must be Halloween . . .
So . . . are you thinking that I've fast-forwarded a couple months, and I think I'm in the wrong season? No, no, no . . . Halloween is what you're thinking about - in August - if you want to design and construct quilts to sell at your Halloween/Fall vendor shows. And sometimes, I still run out of time for all of the Fall quilts that I want to make. Honestly, I've almost come to a mental place where I prefer to make quilts just for this season, but then I'd have to change my business name, and that would be just too much trouble, and I'm sure I'd miss the other three seasons . . . oh well . . . you see where I'm going with this, right? Guess I'm just in a "Halloween state of mind" right now. Travelled down to Florida last weekend to visit with my mom, and attend the annual Holiday Open House at Rainbow's End in Dunedin, FL (on the west coast, near Tampa). As always, I loved all of the Christmas-themed quilts and accessories that Michelle and her staff had worked so hard to pull together, and the shop looked fabulous! But, when I asked Michelle about what fabrics she had gotten into the shop for Halloween, we went to "the back" - that wonderful stockpile of collections of fabrics, projects in progress, and her secret stashes - a wonderful area that only "special people" get to peek at! Michelle showed me the Halloween collections, which featured some great panels to use as the centerpiece of quilts, and their coordinating fabrics, and I just got so excited! Had to have a little something of everything! The quilt above - House of Halloween - is a rendition of my black/white Birch River Cabin quilt. The log cabin block is one of my favorites - different sized center blocks, and varying numbers and widths of "logs" make each quilt look completely different than the last . . . maybe I'll do a series of Halloween log cabin quilts . . . I love that idea, don't you?
