Postcards from Paris
Prior to my visit to Paris a couple of weeks ago, I spent many hours deciding what was important - to me - to see and do. I'm really not much of a museum person, but more of a "walk around and soak up the culture" kind of gal! There are so many street markets, each with its own flavor and focus. After arriving in Paris and dropping my luggage at the hotel, I gathered my thoughts and my trusty map and headed for the Postcard and Stamp Market! This is a market that is open only a few days a week, rain or shine, and each vendor has their wares neatly catalogued and boxed according to specific themes. I wanted to buy some French stamps in beautiful colors, as well as some postcards or letters - of course, written in French! The cards and letters above came from a vendor that only charged me E.50 (that's $.50 in US dollars) for each of these precious lovelies. She was so gracious and her English was very good so that we had a nice conversation. I told her I was from Atlanta, and she exclaimed "the home of Coca-Cola" - I swear I didn't see a Pepsi the whole time I was in France! I plan to photocopy these cards on ivory cardstock, and use them as the background for the scrapbook of my Paris trip. But the scrapbook will have to wait until the middle of May, I'm afraid, 'cause I've got four vendor shows between now and then, beginning with the Druid Hills Tour of Homes that kicks-off with a preview party tomorrow night!
