Les Patisseries of Paris!

Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree Quilts was my inspiration to finally make those travel arrangements that took me to Paris last week. Her newest collection of fabrics from Moda - Patisserie - replicate the delicate textures and hues of one of the city's most treasured destinations - the pastry shops! All of the ones I visited (and there must have been at least three dozen or more) were decorated for Easter, with milk and dark chocolate bunnies, roosters, fish (there's a story about April Fool's Day and the fishes), and so many colors you can hardly imagine. Most often, you would see a boulangerie/patissierie (bakery/pastry) shop combined, with freshly baked breads and baquettes sitting in baskets, and every imaginable pastry in a rainbow of colors. The macaroons are flavored/colored in pistachio, hazelnut, banana, raspberry, and chocolate, while the napoleans, mont blancs, and tarts are artfully displayed as you can in the photo above.

I took photos of many different areas of Paris, but I have to say that the patisseries and fresh food markets, and the flower/plant markets were my favorite! Lots of beautiful colors, smells, and textures that made me smile, and inspired me to look for red and pink geraniums this weekend to add a touch of that great Paris color to the landscape of my home!

As for the chocolate . . . there are entire department stores dedicated to this confection, and more photos for yet another blog to come! Enjoy!
