One of the best things about living in the country is small towns. Although I was born in Miami, I grew up in central Florida in a small town - my high school graduating class had only 95 students! When I left home, I vowed I would never live in a small town ever again. Okay - never say "never". Having lived in much larger cities (New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles), I have come to appreciate the comforts and familiarity of a small town, and now can't imagine living in a large city ever again (okay, never say "never" - who knows where life will take me).
Cumming, GA (Forsyth County) has a wonderful, "small town" 4th of July Celebration, and as the Chippy's girls know, such events are meant to be appreciated and treasured. The City of Cumming hosts this event at the Cumming Fairgrounds (http://www.cummingfair.net/), beginning on Thursday, July 3rd, and ending on Friday, July 4th, about 1:00 p.m. This year's event includes vendors, entertainment, a fireworks show, a dance contest for all ages, and a parade. What caught my attention about the parade is the tractors! I plan to wear my capri length overalls, flip flops, straw hat, and join in the patriotic fun as America celebrates this wonderful, summertime holiday! Go find a small town yourself, and revel in the fun - enjoy the food, the music, the people, and be proud to be an American!
