My niece, Ava, loves kitties! And she's found a new friend in Sugar. Sugar belonged to my sister, but needed to find another home so she came to live with me . . . . and now my brother's daughter has a new best friend in Sugar. You see, Sugar is deaf. Like some white cats, she has a genetic defect that resulted in deafness - notice the different colored "gold" eyes - a telltale sign of deafness in most cases, although deaf white cats typically have a blue/green eye combination. When Ava comes to visit, she doesn't hesitate to find Sugar (or Charley, a big black/white tuxedo cat), and carry her around the house. Sugar doesn't seem to mind, and Ava just loves it. Sugar is almost as big as Ava, too. This sweet, white kitty has the softest fur, and a loud purr when she's happy. And she's always happy when Ava's around . . . . Ava gives her lots of attention and love, and Sugar is so content to hang out with Ava.Only two weeks till Christmas . . . if you want to make a little girl (or boy) happy, think about adopting a kitten or adult cat for Christmas. Pet ownership teaches children responsibility and the ability to think beyond themselves, to care for something else, and to receive love in return that is always unconditional. The gift of a kitten or cat is a gift of love!
