Do you believe in the magic of Christmas? I do! Christmas and the holiday season is a very busy time of year for everyone - buying gifts for friends and family, preparing special treats and goodies to add a few extra pounds to those hips, and attending those festive parties . . . oh, the drama of it all! I decided a few years ago to take all of the stress out of the holiday season . . . instead of rushing around to find just the right gift for everyone, I decided to give the gift of money. Everyone loves money! From the nieces and nephews to my sweet, dear Mom, money fits just right, and allows them to select for themselves that little something that Santa may have forgotten . . . but there's really no magic to money, right? The true magic of Christmas is keeping your loved ones in your thoughts and dreams, wishing them well, and believing in them!
And there are lots of special things you can do for yourself for Christmas - drive through a neighborhood that has lots of Christmas decorations at night, and marvel at the twinkly lights and warm glow. Make Christmas sugar cookies (or whatever your specialty may be - mine is chocolate chip zucchini bread - but more on that in a future post) and give them to your neighbors. And don't go to the mall - shop from specialty stores and smaller boutiques for soaps, fingerless gloves, handmade socks, yards of hand-dyed velvet ribbons - personal items that people can really use and remember you when they do! Leave the mall to the teenagers - hehehehe! And remember to be good to yourself, too. Make some hot chocolate with just a splash of Grand Meunier, sit back and watch White Christmas, with your dogs and cats curled up next to you. Relax, unwind, be thoughtful . . . and believe!
