Just a little more about Paris . . .

It's been more than a month since I returned from Paris, but I'm still fascinated by all of the different things I saw while I was there. On my visit to Sacre Coeur, I walked behind the church and saw this incredible house - a saltbox style building made entirely from stone and brick. Each side of the house looked as though it had been sliced with a bread knife, revealing a smooth wall of bricks in wonderful shades of ocre, rust, cream, cedar, and ivory. How perfect was the little stone house. Even though I couldn't see the courtyard behind it, I imagined a little vegetable garden with a wooden bench, and perhaps a birdbath. The architecture in Paris is one of the things that makes the city so very special - old, old buildings with small rooms, wooden floors, tiny balconies, but decorated with such a flair! Those Parisiens truly have a knack for adding just the right touch to make their homes, their businesses, and their lives enjoyable and happy! And . . . the French like Americans! When we make the effort to speak to them, first asking if they speak English (and not assume that everyone does, which is typically American), you will find that most French people, at least in Paris, speak at least a little English. Enough to carry on a polite conversation . . .
