I love Thanksgiving! Great food, family all-around, football, more great food, more family . . . it's a wonderful holiday. This year, as in most years past, we gather at Jack and Sherry's house in Umatilla, FL. Jack is the bartender, and he makes a mean screwdriver, let me tell you. We start off with Happy Hour, regardless of the time of day we arrive, and Sherry always has snacks and hors d'oeuvres. We mingle, catch-up with the relatives, and prepare ourselves for the main event - Thanksgiving dinner. This year, we had a standing rib roast that was so delicious. Lots of side dishes, and of course, dessert. But on Friday at my mom's house, we had a yummy roasted turkey, and Alene's world-famous oyster dressing. It simply would not be Thanksgiving without oyster dressing. I've made it myself a couple of times when I wasn't able to travel to Florida for Thanksgiving, and I do a pretty good job of it, but Mom's is the best!
Thanksgiving is an eating holiday - no gifts - just food - and lots of it. So today, I'm back to a regular diet with fond memories of yet another yummy Thanksgiving holiday to treasure always. Did I mention "more great food?"
